Below is my ranking of the rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios has some of my favorite rides in all of Disney World, and there is not a single bad ride in this park, in my opinion. Let’s get to it!

9. Alien Swirling Saucers

The ride experience on Alien Swirling Saucers sort of reminds me of those scrambler rides that you may see at a local county fair, but the Alien Swirling Saucers are more smooth and more kid-friendly. I actually really enjoy this ride, even if it is kind of a basic concept. I would not wait more than 30 minutes for this, but it’s still one of those rides I want to ride on every visit (and I have), even with the goofy music! It’s also a great ride to use as your early morning burner ride if you have a Lighting Lane Multi-Pass – ride Alien Swirling Saucers early, then book a tier 1 ride!

8. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

I was really excited about this ride when it was first announced. What Star Wars fan wouldn’t want to pilot the amazing piece of junk that is the Millennium Falcon? It is a fun flight simulator ride, but strangely, I actually prefer Star Tours, which you will see higher in these rankings. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve never been in one of the pilots’ seats – so far, I’ve been a gunner every time I’ve ridden. Is being in a pilot seat worlds better than being a gunner? I’ll find out one day, but for now, I have it ranked pretty low on this list, even though it is still a good ride.

7. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

I haven’t actually ridden the re-themed Muppets version yet, so I’m basing my ranking on the old Aerosmith version. It’s a fast and fun indoor coaster, including a thrilling initial launch as well as the only inversions available at Disney World. Some people would probably have this ranked higher, but for whatever reason, it’s never been one of my must-do rides. It’s a really good ride, I just never seem to prioritize it. I am looking forward to riding the re-themed Muppets version that opened on May 26, 2026, though! Maybe that will get me more hyped up for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in the future. I’ll definitely be looking to ride the Muppets version on my next visit. I’m going to go ahead and say that Song 2 is the only acceptable song to ride to, though… all others are destined to be a disappointment!

6. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

Star Tours is one of those rare Disney rides where the line is consistently short and the ride is consistently great! My kids and I love this ride. My daughter, Olivia, did not like it when she was tiny (she had just turned four when she first rode it), but she loves it now as a 12-year-old, and it has been one of my son, Jacob’s, favorites since his first ride when he was six until now at 15. We also love that we can ride it multiple times and get a new story each time, so it never gets old. Some people don’t like the motion simulator aspect of this ride or the somewhat cramped seating situation – it could potentially be rough for those with motion sickness and/or claustrophobia. My wife, Lindsay, in particular, is not a fan of Star Tours, and while the rest of us ride, she enjoys finding characters to interact with – Sully is her go-to character to meet and greet while we ride Star Tours!

5. Toy Story Mania!

I am undefeated at this ride/game among our family members. Highest score every time. Take that, losers! One day, someone might beat me, and I will update this post if and when that happens. As you can tell, I love the competition aspect of this ride, and my family enjoys talking trash before and after the ride. This is the best target shooting ride in any of the Disney or Universal parks, in my opinion. The projectile-hurling device works really well, the ride is fun for the whole family, and our whole family loves it!

4. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

This is my favorite dark ride in all of Disney World. I even still enjoy the pre-show before the ride – it was awesome the first time through, of course, but after having ridden it multiple times since then, I consider it one of the rare pre-shows that doesn’t get old. This is another ride that is fun for the whole family, and I can’t imagine anyone not having a smile on their face during this ride! Each room that the trackless vehicle glides through is a different experience and there are lots of fun details and effects to enjoy throughout the ride.

3. Slinky Dog Dash

It never fails – every time we visit Hollywood Studios, my daughter feels anxious about riding Slinky Dog Dash. The one big drop toward the beginning of the ride is what makes her nervous. Then, after we finish the ride, she always declares it her favorite ride of the trip. Slinky Dog continues to be one of the favorites for everyone in our family. The launches are really fun but not too intense for younger kids, the design of the Slinky Dog train is really cool, and the themed props around the ride and queue are very well done. I know some people consider Slinky Dog to not be worth the long line, but it’s worth it every time I see the big smiles on my wife and kids’ faces at the end of the ride. It doesn’t hurt that we’ve been fortunate enough to use the lightning lane every time we’ve ridden, but I think it would still be worth it, even if we had a long wait!

2. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance is part immersive experience, part dark ride, part motion simulator. That’s a lot to pack into a theme park attraction, but it all works together extremely well. The Disney cast members working on this ride always do such a great job of staying in character, making everything feel authentic, and making you feel like you are part of the Star Wars story. There really is nothing like it that I have ever experienced. My only very slight critique is that after you have ridden it a few times, the magic wears off a little bit and some of the walk-through areas start to feel more like typical waiting areas. However, I suppose that is true of any ride with pre-show-type areas (except the aforementioned Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway). If you’ve never ridden ROTR before, though, that first-time experience, especially as a Star Wars fan, is awe-inspiring. If you can manage to avoid seeing any major spoilers beforehand, it’s even better.

1. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

There is just something about the Tower of Terror. It’s one of the few rides where, no matter how many times I’ve ridden it, I continue to feel that sense of nervous anticipation as I’m making my way through the queue and into the boarding area. The queue, the theming, the unpredictable nature of the ride – it all adds up to one of the most thrilling attractions I’ve ever ridden. I find myself smiling and laughing and yelling on this ride more than any other. The sad thing is my laughs and yells occur next to total strangers, because I have only ever ridden this by myself… my wife does not do intense thrill rides, and my kids haven’t built up the courage yet… one of these days someone will ride it with me! For now, we always split up after we watch the Fantasmic show – I head to the Tower of Terror to get my fix (and riding it at night is the best), and Lindsay and the kids head for the exit. I usually get back to the hotel before they even finish getting cleaned up and PJ’ed!
