There are a lot of great dining options in the numerous little beach communities along Highway 30A on the Florida gulf coast. These are our favorites after visiting the 30A area for many years.

LaCo Latin Coastal Kitchen, Seacrest Beach – Lindsay has declared this her favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. For some reason, LaCo is never as busy as we think it deserves to be, and we never have trouble getting a table. They have a few outdoor tables in the front, but the majority of the tables are indoors, and we prefer to eat inside the restaurant. The ambiance is not anything super special, but the food is always great. Lindsay raves about the traditional taco salad, which she gets with ground beef. I typically get a few different varieties of tacos – the steak tacos are my favorite. Most importantly, though, the chips, salsa, and queso dip are excellent, and the margaritas are fresh and delicious. We always split a pitcher of house margaritas which provides the two of us around 3 glasses each. After our meals at LaCo, we walk a couple blocks down to Rosemary Beach and take a stroll through the shopping area. It’s a good way to walk off our food and drinks. While we are there, the kids, of course, require a stop at the Sugar Shak for some sweet treats.

Great Southern Cafe, Seaside – We never vacation in the 30A area without a visit to Seaside and the Great Southern Cafe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and we always request to be seated in the outdoor seating in the covered area around the right-hand side of the building. Lindsay likes their grilled chicken sandwich, and I love to get the vegetable plate, which includes your choice of four of their southern sides – the smoked gouda cheese grits, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and sauteed green beans are some of my favorites. During happy hour, which runs from 3:00-5:00 pm, drinks are 25% off, so we typically try to time our arrival so that we can get a drink before happy hour ends. They are famous for their many flavors of Mojitos. We are not big Mojito fans, but their other cocktails have consistently been very good! This is always one of our favorite meals on our 30A trips.

Old Florida Fish House, Seagrove Beach – For years on our visits to 30A, we drove right past the Old Florida Fish House, which is very close to the condo we typically rent. We would see all of the outdoor seating and twinkle lights and we would talk about how we should try it, but we would continue to put it off for some reason. A few years ago, we finally decided to make a reservation, and now it’s in our regular rotation! Old Florida Fish House is expensive, but the food is always fantastic. We are not big seafood eaters, but they have several non-seafood menu items that are very tasty. I am sure the seafood is also great, for those who prefer seafood when visiting the coast. We always request a table outside, because the entire outdoor seating area is really nice, and they have lots of shade structures, as well as twinkle lights for when the sun goes down. We have never dined indoors, so I can’t speak to the indoor ambiance/experience, but my guess is it is also very nice. The parking logistics at the restaurant are not the greatest – it is valet-only parking in a small-ish gravel lot, and it can get a little hectic at the busiest meal times – but the parking attendants are very efficient and we never have to wait long to get our vehicle back after our visit.

Mimmo’s, Blue Mountain Beach – On our 30A beach trip in 2025, we decided to venture a little farther west than we usually do looking for a dinner spot, and we found Mimmo’s. This is an excellent Italian restaurant with lots of indoor dining where the upscale ambiance is Lindsay-approved. They also have a small patio with outdoor seating. We have loved both visits to Mimmo’s, and I am sure we will continue to return in the future. Most of the pasta is made fresh daily in the restaurant, and it is delicious. Mimmo’s also has some unique specialty cocktails on their drink menu – Lindsay loves the Black Manhattan, and I am a big fan of the Cosa Nostra, which is similar to an Old Fashioned. This year, after our meal at Mimmo’s, we walked across the parking lot to the Ice Cream Shoppe for dessert afterward, and I had one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had – Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle, which is salty caramel sauce mixed in brown butter ice cream with brown butter bourbon truffles. They had so many unique flavors that we have never seen anywhere else. I had a hard time choosing which flavor to get, but I was very pleased with my choice – I highly recommend it!

The Big Chill (formerly The Hub), Watersound Beach – The Big Chill is not actually a restaurant. It is a casual hang out spot surrounded by little restaurants and shops. There are tables and chairs set up in an outdoor, central area with a stage at one end that is used for free nightly events. The dining area farthest from the stage is covered by a roof and has shade and fans, and the area closest to the stage is out in the open with a large shade structure. They have live music nights, DJ nights, and movie nights, and it is a great place for families to hang out after a long day at the beach and just chill (imagine that) and eat and drink and take in the entertainment. We typically get burgers from Duos and/or some sides from Local Smoke BBQ, and we follow up our meal with ice cream from Mr. Freeze. We love their Pirate’s Bounty ice cream, which we have never seen anywhere else – it’s caramel-flavored ice cream with M&M pieces and Oreo pieces. My wife, Lindsay, and our daughter, Olivia, also like to keep an eye out for Luke Bryan, the famous country music artist, while we are at the Big Chill, because he owns the Shore Thing cigar bar that is in the area. We haven’t successfully seen Luke yet, but that won’t stop us from trying! One time, we did see a very nicely restored older model Ford Bronco in one of the employee spots in the parking lot, and we thought it might be his, but we never saw him.

The Donut Hole, Inlet Beach – You can’t have a family vacation without donuts, and this is our favorite donut shop in the area! Our favorites are the Dutch crumb (Brian and Lindsay), the red velvet (Brian and Jacob), and the double chocolate (Olivia). The donut take-out line can get pretty long at the busiest times, but it usually moves pretty fast. We always try to get there early to avoid the lines. The Donut Hole also has indoor dining with a full breakfast menu. We have only had a sit-down breakfast here once, but the non-donut breakfast food was also very good.

Big Bad Breakfast, Inlet Beach – We don’t often go out to eat for breakfast when we are at the beach – maybe once per trip, if that. But when we do, Big Bad Breakfast is our favorite place. Their French toast is some of the best we’ve ever had, and their bacon is top notch, too. You really can’t go wrong with any of the traditional breakfast items on the menu. They have outdoor covered seating and indoor seating, and we have enjoyed both – we typically just take whatever is first available. The only bad thing I can say about Big Bad Breakfast is that they can have a long wait at certain times, but that’s just because the food is worth the wait!

Pineapple Willy’s, Panama City Beach – Alright, I know, Pineapple Willy’s is not in the 30A area, but hear me out. Before we ever began staying in the 30A area, we used to stay near Panama City Beach, and every year since they were babies, we would take the kids to Pineapple Willy’s on our beach trips. As we started staying farther west down the coast, we still continued to reserve one night to make the drive down to Pineapple Willy’s because the kids always loved it, and now it has become a tradition for our family. We have never not gone to Pineapple Willy’s on a family beach trip – we just can’t quit you, Pineapple Willy’s! My daughter, Olivia, even has a special pineapple dress that she wears every time we go – you can read all about her dress in Lindsay’s blog post from 2025. We always eat outside on the pier, where we can look west and see the sun begin to set while we enjoy our meal, and of course, we indulge in the signature Pineapple Willy cocktail. We take our souvenir mugs with us every time we go so we can get the discounted refill price! After dinner, we always stop by the Pink Pelican for ice cream, which is a short drive away. They also have so many unique and delicious flavors that we have never seen anywhere else. I know I keep saying that, but it’s true! A word of warning, though – it is always FREEZING inside the Pink Pelican, so be prepared with a jacket or hoodie or sweater, especially if you are cold-natured.

Honorable Mentions:
- Angelina’s Pizzeria and Pasta, Seagrove Beach – This is where we always grab a quick couple of pizzas for dinner on the evening we arrive at our condo – quick and tasty pizza at a reasonable price.
- Canopy Road Cafe, Inlet Beach – A great breakfast spot with some unique and tasty menu items.
- Cowgirl Kitchen, Rosemary Beach – A unique place for breakfast or lunch (or brunch). They serve dinner too, but we haven’t been for dinner, yet.
- The Wine Bar, WaterColor Beach – Tasty pizza (among other things) with an extensive wine menu. They also have a Wine World shop where you can buy bottles to take home.
Have you tried any of these restaurants? Are there any other great places that we need to visit on our next trip and add to this list? Let me know in the comments, and maybe we will try them out and add them!
